Families are always loads of fun. It’s a lot of personalities (or a few really big personalities) and there’s always a lot we can do together. Past families and I have gone to the beach, explored gardens, taken care of the family farm, visited the zoo (and the National Cathedral), and hung out on the playground. We’re moving around the whole time so everyone stays engaged and has a good time.

Families
Kids change a lot, and it’s pretty wacky. One year a kid is talking about how their spine could be made of chicken nuggets and then they’re talking about how they need to learn pre-algebra faster (the chicken nugget spine is a real story). So we gotta get them while we can. These sessions are entirely focused on following their lead and bringing out their personality—shy or extraverted, crazy or quiet. These sessions are best done at home, where they’re already comfortable.
Then what? Pictures of them running around, dressing up, acting crazy, laughing at their own jokes, and just being themselves. (These are usually the funniest photoshoots.)

Children
Sometimes there's just a lot going on, sometimes you just need a few for the Christmas card, and sometimes just the idea of rounding your kids up for a full hour of photos sounds exhausting. If so, this is your package. You round up the kids for 15–30 minutes, and we'll get all the portraits to update the hallway gallery and send to the grandparents.

Miriam took pictures of our family at the Botanical Garden in DC. Anyone with young kids knows how hard it can be to wrangle them and smile for pictures; Miriam was very warm and great with the kids, and we were pleasantly surprised by how well the pictures turned out.
