Families are always loads of fun. It’s a lot of personalities (or a few really big personalities) and there’s always a lot we can do together. Past families and I have gone to the beach, explored gardens, taken care of the family farm, visited the zoo (and the National Cathedral), and hung out on the playground. We’re moving around the whole time so everyone stays engaged and has a good time.

Families
Kids change a lot, and it’s pretty wacky. One year a kid is talking about how their spine could be made of chicken nuggets and then they’re talking about how they need to learn pre-algebra faster (the chicken nugget spine is a real story). So we gotta get them while we can. These sessions are entirely focused on following their lead and bringing out their personality—shy or extraverted, crazy or quiet. These sessions are best done at home, where they’re already comfortable.
Then what? Pictures of them running around, dressing up, acting crazy, laughing at their own jokes, and just being themselves. (These are usually the funniest photoshoots.)

Children
This is a cool session because it’s the only no-kids-allowed photoshoot. For dating, engaged, and fun couples, our ultimate goal is to not make this awkward. A couple shoot shouldn’t feel awkward, even if you think that’s unavoidable. It’s about just getting pictures of the two of you being happy together. And you don’t need to know how to pose (it’s literally my job to know how to pose you so you don’t have to).
Expect: walking, twirling, playing tag, hugs from behind, and looking at your photos afterwards like dang we look good. Of course you do.

Ain’t nobody got time for that. So, if you don’t have time for it, we’ll make it shorter. Hop in for a themed seasonal or holiday minishoot and get all the portraits to update the hallway gallery and send to the grandparents.

Mini-Sessions
I literally thought everyone did these when they visited their grandparents until about a month ago. When everyone sees Grandma or Grandpa or gets together for a family reunion, we take family portraits. This includes the entire extended family, minis of each family, individuals, and candids afterwards. Honestly, it’s one of my favs.
